| The Marijuana Prize for Genetically Modified Marijuana Food |
|
A simple concept: Marijuana does not have to look like marijuana ISuppose that someone really could smoke grass -- as in "lawn clippings", and it had the same effect as marijuana. Suppose that marijuana came in dozens of different plants -- none of which look like marijuana as we now know it. What is the Marijuana Prize? The Marijuana prize will be awarded to the first person to develop any common food that produces the same therapeutically active ingredients found in marijuana. Plants must produce the same cannabinoids as marijuana, with a minimum therapeutic dose in each serving. The food must be fertile and capable of reproduction of child plants or organisms that will produce second and third generation products with the same cannabinoid characteristics. We expect that someone will be able to produce the first seeds within one year, and the plants could be proven within one year after the first seeds are produced. Depending upon legal and market conditions, new forms of “marijuana” could be generally available to the public in five years or less. /p>
