Hobson Tells of New Menace.
New York Times, March 5, 1931
WASHINGTON, March 4 (AP). -- Testimony upon the introduction into this country and Europe of marijuana, a type of Mexican hemp, used principally in cigarettes, was laid before the Wickersham commission by Captain Richmond Pearson Hobson.
"The drug can be grown anywhere," Mr. Hobson said, "and when smoked in small quantities produces a feeling of physical exhilaration. In excess, however, it motivates the most atrocious acts."
