SPREAD THE WORD...

Jamal Terra heard the following statements about cocaine less than one year ago. After helping us to collect information about drugs and the risks involved, they realized that what they used to believe is not true. The two of them want to dispel these common myths about cocaine among their young peers. Help them and the Prevention Posses to...

SPREAD THE WORD THAT THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS ABOUT COCAINE ARE UNTRUE!

  1. "Cocaine gives me self-confidence and makes me have more self-esteem."
  2. "I can get more work done, and I can get better grades when I use cocaine."
  3. "Cocaine makes me feet more positive when I'm feeling down and out."
  4. "Cocaine makes me a better athlete."
  5. "Nothing can happen if I only use cocaine once in a while."
  6. "Using cocaine is a symbol of success. If I use cocaine, I can hang with important people who also use the drug."

& THE TRUTH IS THAT...

  1. "Self-esteem and self-confidence come from your positive experiences, accomplishments, and how much you value who you are. You can't get self-esteem and self-confidence from a drug."
  2. "Using cocaine prevents you from getting good grades."
  3. "Once you are no longer high, you become more down and out than you were before you took the drug."

  1. "Athletes can actually damage themselves under the influence of cocaine. That false sense of power and limitless energy can be harmful. Athletics careers can be put in serious jeopardy."
  2. "One dose of cocaine can actually kill you. Why take a chance with your life!"
  3. "No one truly respects or looks up to users of drugs, no matter what their job. position, or status."

SPREAD THE WORD BY TALKING TO YOUR FRIENDS!!!

ON THE PHONE, AT SCHOOL, AT SPECIAL EVENTS, AT CHURCH, SYNAGOGUE, MOSQUE, TEMPLE, OR ANY OTHER PLACE YOU WORSHIP, AT RECREATION CENTERS, AT SPORTS EVENTS, DURING PARTIES, AND AT ANY OTHER PLACE YOU GO TO HANG OUT.

THE DRUG PREVENTION CUT & PASTE EXERCISE

Find and cut out words and pictures that can be combined to send a message. Then design three drug prevention posters using the creativity that we know you have. Get permission to hang them in a school Library, public Library, classroom, store window, or you may just hang them in your room at home. It may be a fun idea to organize a drug prevention poster contest that targets younger students at your school!
