Upcoming Conferences


        The Commercial & Industrial Hemp Symposium and Trade Fair will be held February 17-19, 1997 at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre in British Columbia, Canada.  The event will attract an international delegation of experts involved in commercial and industrial hemp growing, processing, manufacturing and production for a variety of industries.  Guest speakers will present research on the many uses of commercial and industrial hemp.
        The Commercial & Industrial Hemp Symposium is produced by Wiseman Noble Sales and Marketing Ltd., a Vancouver-based event and publishing company.  Among those sponsoring the international speaker series are The Canadian Pulp & Paper Association and Growers International Inc., a Saskatchewan-based biological agriculture company.  Sponsors for the symposium include the Bank of Montreal, the Canadian Industrial Hemp Council (CIHC), Ecosource Paper of Victoria and Hemptown Clothing of Vancouver.  Among other sponsors for this event is the US-based Ohio Hempery.

        The nova-Institute in Cologne, Germany, will organize the four-day international technological-scientific symposium Bioresource Hemp (Biorohstoff Hanf) '97 held from February 27 - March 2, 1997.  As in 1995, it will be held at the Frankfurt Exhibition Center, as part of Bio Fach, the world's largest trade fair for environmentally friendly consumer products.
        The Bioresource Hemp '97 symposium will involve more than 60 presentations by hemp experts from around the world.  According to the nova Institute, speakers from several countries, including France, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia, Finland, Germany, Hungary and Ukraine where considerable experiences with hemp research and implementation have been gained since 1995, have committed to presenting their findings at the conference.  The results from major research projects will be summarized in special presentations, and selected subjects will be covered in a parallel session and in smaller groups.  The official languages of the conference will be English and German.  Simultaneous translation of all main-session presentations will be provided.  A particular synergism will be created by the setting of the Bioresource Hemp '97 symposium parallel to Bio Fach '97.  Numerous firms involved in the hemp industry are expected to display their recent products.  Bioresource Hemp '97 is sponsored by Sunder & Rottner (Organizers of Bio Fach), the hanfnet e.V. network in Hanover, and EFKA (manufacturer of Caņuma cigarette paper).  Additional sponsors are being solicited.  The public relations work is supported by the environmental PR-agency "Kristall", Cologne.

        The Fiber Futures '97 Conference and Product Expo entitled "Cultivating Profitable and Sustainable Fibers for the 21st Century" will be held June 1 & 2, 1997 in Monterey, California.
