Hey Carl,
It's been a while so I
figured I would make an effort to keep the lines of communication open and give
you an update on the latest happenings. I know you get a thrill hearing
about it. J
We're just coming off a week's
lockdown due to a murder that took place on Memorial Day weekend. The
dispute happened in my unit (they both lived a couple of doors down from my
room, although I didn't have dealings with either one because of their low level
mentality - two of the biggest overall scum bags in the unit), over a chess
game, ending with one guy diving off of the pool table and burying a knife in
the other's chest. All the worst fights I've witnessed in prison were over
some type of game. A vast majority of these people are extremely
ignorant. Everything that's given as community materials (things such as
chairs, TVs, micro-waves and washing machines) these idiot bullies try to claim
and dominate, you might go into a TV room and there'll be a guy sitting on top
of three chairs, at once, and he won't even offer you one (after this incident
they've taken all the excess chairs along witht the pool tables, which I believe
is a good thing) claiming all three community chairs. There isn't much
difference between a lot of these people and animals.
Anyway, they brought in the state
police and interviewed all of us, asking questions like "Where we were
during the killing?" The usual questions that you would expect.
They came and ransacked our rooms (they even cut my lock off my locker, and you
know they won't replace it, so I'll have to purchase a new one - by all rights
they should provide a new one, because they all have a master key, but I guess
the genius trying to open my lock couldn't figure it out - basically it's a
money making operation and it's understood between them that they do things that
will always cost you money) looking for evidence. After the murder they
found a weapon outside this old Jewish guy's window (mind you, it was a four man
room and there's no way in hell that this guy would have had anything to do with
the weapon) so they came in and scared him, roughing him up where he ended up
having a heart attack, and dying, two hours after the murder. It's
basically a machine, with a bunch of robots, and once you get caught up in the
apparatus there isn't any consideration for individual differences, everyone's
treated in the same manner.
To go back to the murderer, he'll
probably end up going way less time than I have. The State of New York has
taken the case because, I guess, the state owns the property and leases it to
the Feds, thus making it a state charge, where he'll most likely get about ten
years and only do around eight. Somewhere the system just doesn't seem
right. L
I haven't really heard from anyone in
a while except for Jane & Joel and Little Felix who has his own band our in
Dan Diego and seems to be doing okay.
One Louv, Brian
