Employing some low-impact, muscle-soothing exercises might work for you, as it has worked for many people. Yoga, tai chi, and aerobics are some alternatives. The lack of pressure on your joints also reduces the chances of getting injured. By forcing you to stretch and use your muscles, these exercises effectively calm down your both your mind and body. Exercise also allows your brain to create endorphins, which is a chemical that produces a feeling of well-being. Endorphins are natural pain-killers, and enough is released the need for pain medication can be entirely eliminated.
Of course, if all else fails, you can always buy non-prescription drugs and prescription drugs, in that order. Try out the over-the-counter painkillers first before you use prescription ones. It is quite likely that you will have no need for the latter.
