Fioricet
Fioricet is a prescription drug that actually contains a number of ingredients. The main ingredients in this drug are acetaminophen, butalbital and caffeine. The combination of these drugs produces an effect on complex tension headaches. How this is accomplished is not exactly known.
As far as the components of Fioricet are concerned, acetaminophen is used as a pain reliever. Butalbital is a barbiturate which acts on the central nervous system and causes a relaxation. Caffeine, another component of Fioricet, is known to constrict blood vessels that are dilated and may help cause tension headaches.
Fioricet is taken orally and should be taken with a full glass of water. It may help to take Fioricet with food or milk to prevent an upset stomach. This drug should be stored at room temperature and should be kept dry. As with any drug, keep this drug away from children and pets. As an added convenience, it may be possible to buy fioricet online to avoid the hassle of going to a nearby pharmacy.
Fioricet can cause symptoms ranging from uncomfortable to serious. Contact your doctor if you experience any serious side effects. Less serious side effects may include drowsiness, dry mouth, rash, nausea, dizziness, tiredness or a feeling of intoxication. Serious side effects occur very rarely.
When taking Fioricet you should take some precautions. Driving and operating machinery may be dangerous while taking this drug due to the dizziness associated with butalbital. It would be wise to avoid taking sedatives, sleeping pills, and other such medications. Alcoholic beverages should also be avoided. Since caffeine is a component of the drug, you should cut back on your caffeine intake as well.
You should not take Fioricet if you are already taking an MAOI. These are monoamine oxidase inhibitors such as parnate, nardil, or marplan. Dangerous reactions can occur. As mentioned above, Fiorcet can cause drowsiness and dizziness. As such, it can increase the effects of other drugs that also cause these effects.
