Lortab
The prescription drug called lortab is a known drug that helps patients manage his or her pain from injuries, surgeries or arthritis. Lortab comes in other names as well. These include Anexsia, Anolor DH5, Bancap HC, Dolacet, Lorcet 10/650, Lorcet HD, Lorcet Plus, Lortab, Lortab 10, Lortab 5/500, Lortab 7.5/500, Lortab Elixir, Norco, T-Gesic, Vicodin, Vicodin ES, Vicodin HP, and Zydone. All of these medications do the same thing-they block pain and help patients get through it.
Because of the class of drugs that lortab belongs to, this drug can be highly addictive. Patients who take lortab for more than a few days may soon find that he or she has a very hard time stopping. For this reason, many doctors are very reluctant to let patients take lortab for more than a week for so. However, if there is a need to do so, the doctor might choose to give the patient decreasing doses over time. This will decrease the chances of experiencing unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
Lortab medication contains hydrocodone, which is also habit forming. You should never take more of this medication that your doctor prescribes and you should always take it exactly as given to you. In addition, it is very important that you do not drink alcohol while taking Lortab. This can lead to dizziness, drowsiness, unconsciousness and possible even death. Also, if you take other medications, you should always let your doctor know in advance. Taking Lortab along with other medications can be dangerous. Lortab is known to increase the effects of other medications such as depression medications, antihistamines, pain relievers, seizure medications and muscle relaxants.
To lessen the chances of experiencing side effects that are often associated with taking Lortab, (such as constipation), you should eat a balanced diet and drink plenty of fluids. If you have an upset stomach after taking this medication, try taking your next dose with food.
