Adderall
There are many amphetamine type drugs that are used to treat common disorders such as narcolepsy and ADHD. One such popular prescription drug is called Adderall. Adderall has successfully been used for these treatments since the 70s. While there are many varieties over this drug, Adderall XR is what is now currently being prescribed.
Most doctors that prescribe ADHD medication to both children and adults feel that Adderall is a safe drug to help treat common symptoms associated with ADHD. Those who suffer from ADHD have a difficult time concentrating on daily tasks and often have a hard time focusing. Children that are not properly diagnosed for ADHD often go through school facing a hard time. Teachers label them as lazy or bad simply because they do not know they have ADHD. It is much the same scenario for adults. Many adults suffer from ADHD. They may have a hard time keeping friends or keeping a job. With prescriptions such as Adderall, they can live a normal life.
When Adderall is taken, it affects the central nervous system. It creates a calming effect that allows the patient to focus and work better. Many times a child or adult that begins taking Adderall sees a quick improvement.
Adderall is both safe and effective. There have been many clinical trials and studies the show that this drug works within 1 to 1-1/2 hours and can be taken with or without food. This is often the perfect choice for school aged children, too, because it normally works all day long. In addition, the active ingredient in Adderall has been effectively and safely used for over 70 years.
This prescription drug is also a good choice for ADHD patients because it is well tolerated. Slight side effects have been noticed such as weight loss, headaches, dry mouth and difficulty falling asleep. These are usually mild and after taking the medication for a few weeks, tend to disappear. In addition, those who suffer from glaucoma, high blood pressure, have anxiety or have a history of drug abuse or psychosis should never take Adderall. If you or your child suffers from ADHD, you should speak to your doctor about taking Adderall.
