Generic Viagra
Originally chemists were searching for a drug that would help with high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. However, what they came up with instead, was a drug that would work to combat erectile dysfunction. Viagra was patented by the Pfizer pharmaceutical company in 1996. Viagra, since it was the first drug ever approved by the FDA for erectile dysfunction, was able to call for just about any price it wanted from consumers.
However, now that there is generic Viagra on the market, consumers are able to combat erectile dysfunction for less. Generic Viagra is just as good as the original and it cost a lot less. Generic Viagra is typically sold under a few different names. Cialis and Levitate are the two most popular competitors.
Generic Viagra is Sildenafil citrate and it is also used to treat some cases of pulmonary arterial hypertension. The way that the drug works is that it releases nitric oxide into the corpus cavernosum of the penis. The nitric oxide works to relax the corpus cavernosum by raising the cyclic guanosine monophosphate which helps to increase the flow of blood that is needed for the erection.
When Generic Viagra is used to treat the uncommon disease of pulmonary arterial hypertension, it helps to relax the arterial wall. Once the arterial wall is relaxed, the pressure on the arterial wall if reduced and it cuts down on the amount of work that the right ventricle of the heart has to do. Once this occurs, the pressure of the right ventricle is lessened.
Generic Viagra is sometimes also used as an aphrodisiac even though there is little to no evidence that it is one. Younger people also use generic Viagra occasionally because it is believed to increase the experience of sexual encounters. Again, this has not been proven in any studies.
