Tramadol Hcl
Tramadol hcl is a drug that is used mainly for the treatment of chronic pain. Often it is prescribed for people with conditions such as cancer or some types of severe arthritis, as well as after surgeries to combat surgery pain. Tramadol hcl works with the pain receptors within the body to help dull the pain the body recognizes and feels. This drug has been found very effective with people who deal with chronic pain and does not have as much risk of addiction, as some other narcotics tend to have. It is also fairly safe to use and usually, unless taken in large quantities, does not repress respiration. Some other drugs, like morphine, tend to repress the patients’ respiration, which can be very dangerous.
Tramadol hcl is very versatile and can be taken either with food, or without food. It also is not a member of the drugs group called NSAID’s, nonsteroidal antiinflamatory drugs, and does not cause any of the stomach problems that drugs from that group can cause. Usually doctors prefer to slowly put their patients on tramadol hcl, starting out at a very small dose and working up to higher dosages. It is also important to note that when coming off tramadol hcl, it should also be done slowly and not all at once.
Always be sure to let your doctor know about any other medications you may be taking. While tramadol hcl is a very safe drug it can cause reactions if used with certain other drugs such as other narcotics and antidepressants. Patients should be sure to not take tramadol hcl with alcohol as it can intensify the effects of the medication and can be dangerous. Never ever give your medication to someone else. Giving prescription medications to someone they are not intended for is illegal and can cause serious medical problems. Always take your medication as directed and be sure not to take more than your doctor has prescribed.
