Zanaflex
Zanaflex, also known by the generic name of Tizanidine, is effectively prescribed to patients that suffer from medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and other medical disorders that cause intense muscle spasms. This prescription durg works to relax rigid or tense muscles that these patients can better function throughout the day. Zanaflex usually works about one to two hours after a dose is given and only lasts about three to six hours. Patients are often told to take this medication before they are to take part in activities.
Because Zanaflex works to relax muscles, it is important to know that this drug can also cause drowsiness. In fact, over half of the patients that use Zanaflex are affected by drowsiness. Less common side effects include abdominal pain, muscle weakness, skin rashes, sweating and indigestion.
