Celexa
If you are among the millions of Americans that suffer from clinical depression, your health care provider might recommend that you take the prescription drug called Celexa. Celexa is effectively used to treat symptoms of depression in both men and women.
Depression is a serious problem. People who suffer from repeated bouts and continued depression need help. Sometimes it is more than just having a bad day. Many people who are clinically depressed suffer from low self-esteem, are unable to maintain healthy relationships and even have suicidal thoughts and tendencies. Symptoms that can be treated used Celexa include insomnia, excessive sleeping, change in daily activities, decreased sex drive, and feelings of guilt and worthlessness. The medication Celexa, is used much like other antidepressants such as Paxil, Zoloft and Proxac. Celexa works to boost serotonin levels in the brain, which helps to fight off feelings of depression. This can help elevate the mood of the patient helping them feel more normal on a day-to-day basis.
Patients who are given Celexa often find that the medication may not have a full effect until after several weeks. Usually, this means that the patient can expect to feel better after a month or so after starting this medication. There are some side effects associated with taking this prescription drug. Some of the side effects are mild and can include agitation, anxiety, painful menstrual cycles in women, sinus or nasal inflammation, sweating, tremors, vomiting, loss of appetites and impotence among men. Less common side effects associated with this medication include suicidal thoughts, confusion, coughing, low blood pressure, migraine headaches, taste problems, weight loss or weigh gain and muscle pain.
If you are taking this medication and are experiencing unpleasant side effects, you should talk to your doctor about whether or not you should continue on this medications. Celexa is very beneficial to most people and is generally well tolerated.
