Soma Carisoprodol
Soma Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxant used to relieve pain and discomfort commonly associated with tension headaches, sprains, and muscle injuries. While many people may rely on less powerful over-the-counter drugs to ease discomfort from muscle injuries or tension, a prescription strength medication may be necessary for better results.
Soma Carisoprodol comes in the form of an oral tablet. Depending on the severity of the injury or condition, physicians will recommend an appropriate daily dosage. Ordinarily, Soma Carisoprodol is administered three times a day, with food. It is important for patients to take the recommended dosage daily. Taking too little or too much of the drug could affect recovery.
Prior to a physician prescribing Soma Carisoprodol, he or she will need to know the name of all medications taken by the patient. Because Soma Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxant, patients should not combine this medication with other types of muscle relaxants, sedatives, sleeping pills, or tranquilizers. Furthermore, patients should also avoid consuming alcoholic beverages while taking this particular medication. Doctors must also be informed if the patient has liver or kidney problems, pregnant, nursing, or allergic to any of the ingredients included in Soma Carisoprodol.
Because Soma Carisoprodol may cause abdominal pain or discomfort, it is important for patients to take the medication with food or milk. Typically, side effects with Soma Carisoprodol are uncommon. Nonetheless, patients may experience one or more of the following side effects:
- Headache
- Drowsiness
- Rapid Heartbeat
- Nausea
- Skin Rash
More serious side effects which must be reported immediately include:
- Fever
- Trouble Breathing
- Eye Irritation
- Weakness
Soma Carisoprodol is generally prescribed for short-term use. Once a patient stops taking the drug, he or she may experience withdrawal symptoms, which tend to lessen within a couple of days. These might include abdominal cramps, headaches, insomnia, and body chills.
