It can be given to calm patients down before a procedure or as a prescription. These days the Valium pill is typically prescribed for anxiety.
The Valium pill can be addictive which is why it is not prescribed on a long term basis. However, when taken as prescribed, the Valium pill is a very helpful tool in relieving anxiety.
Some of the side effects of the Valium pill include lightheadedness and both stomach and muscle cramps. While some of these side effects can be lessened by taking the Valium pill after a meal, they may still have an effect.
Valium can make handling any type of machinery very difficult. This is especially true of driving so do not drive while under the influence of the Valium pill. Anyone taking medications for severe mental illness should not be prescribed the Valium pill.
There are certain other prescription drugs that interact with Valium so be sure to tell the doctor about all of the drugs that are being taken. Also do not double up on dosages of Valium. If a dose is forgotten do not take double the next time it should be taken. Instead, just continue on with the usual schedule. It is also important to not take the Valium pill unless it has been prescribed.
