Cozaar
Cozaar is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure or hypertension. Depending on the severity of a patient’s condition, physicians may prescribe Cozaar alone, or combine this medication with other effective treatments or medications for high blood pressure. Additionally, Cozaar can be used to slow down the progression of kidney disease. This medication is effective because it includes a hormone, angiotensin II, which stops blood vessels from constricting. Hence, blood pressure is able to remain stable.

In order for Cozaar to be effective with treating high blood pressure, it is important for patients to take the drug as directed by a physician. High blood pressure can lead to a variety of health condition such as heart attack and stroke. For this matter, maintaining a healthy blood pressure is critical. Upon starting the dosage, it may take several days or weeks before blood pressure begins to lower. Nonetheless, patients must continue taking the medication until otherwise directed.
Cozaar can be taken with or without food. Patients who have difficulty remembering to take their medication may benefit from taking the drug at the same time each day. For example, you may choose to take a pill each morning at breakfast, or wait until bedtime. However, if a dose is missed, do not put off taking the medication or skip a dosage. Rather, take the medication immediately.
When taking Cozaar, side effects can be expected. Common side effects generally include:

                    - Dizziness

				    - Upper Respiratory Infection

				    - Cough

				  Rare side effects may include:

                    - Allergic reaction

				    - Limb pain

				    - Insomnia

				    - Swelling

				    - Hives

If side effects occur, discontinue use, and contact a physician. Less serious side effects tend to gradually lessen, and pose no real threat. On the other hand, if a patient is unknowingly allergic to an ingredient in the medication, doctors will likely prescribe a new medication.
