Can Ultram Help to Ease Your Pain?
Ultram is used to relieve pain, whether it be pain from something temporary like a surgery or something longer lasting such as cancer. Ultram is one of the brand names under which the drug is sold. The first thing you should determine is if your doctor approves you to use the generic version of Ultram called Tramadol. Purchasing the generic version of Ultram can save you a lot of money.
If you are addicted to any other type of drug or alcohol, you should not take Ultram. Ultram can be addicting, although less likely so than other opiates such as morphine. Take your prescription of Ultram exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Taking a larger dose could result in an overdose, which could be harmful or even fatal. Do not take more than 400 mg of Ultram each 24 hour period. Symptoms of an Ultram overdose can be drowsiness, weakness, clammy skin, shallow breathing, and fainting.Taking a lower dose or stopping Ultram completely could also result in adverse side effects like coughing, insomnia, drowsiness, or sweating. If your doctor decides to take you off Ultram, he will probably gradually reduce your dose over time to help your body adjust.
If you are taking Ultram in tablet form, do not crush or cut the tablet before taking it. This is required for it to work right. You can take it without food, but if you experience an upset stomach, take the tablet with food or milk.
If you have a history of seizures, please note that some people have had seizures while taking Ultram, especially those who have a past history of seizures. If you have a seizure while taking Ultram, consult your doctor immediately. Ultram may impair your mental alertness, so take it for a few days before driving or operating heavy machinery to see how it will affect you.
