Urine Drug Test
If you think all drug users are bums who never work, think again! It has been reported that up to 77% of those who use illegal drugs are employed. To protect themselves from additional expenses because of this, many companies have begun random drug testing. One of the easiest and fastest ways to check for drug use is a urine drug test. These are inexpensive and can be given by an employee of the company.
Urinalysis is one of the oldest methods of testing for drugs. It can detect the use of drugs for the past two or three days. Because some people in the past have found ways to substitute clean samples for their own, many require that a urine drug test be taken in a single bathroom that often contains a two-way mirror. This way someone can monitor whether the subject is trying to substitute other urine as his or her own.
Although some see a drug urine test as invasive and embarrassing, the use of it has become a commonplace occurrence in the workforce today.
By providing the urine drug test themselves rather than sending potential and current employees to a laboratory, companies save money. Most kits can provide you with results in 5 minutes or less. Some companies the make urine tests provide different ones depending on what you want to screen on. There is the 3 panel test which checks for the basics (marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamines). As the tests advance in number, they test for additional drugs. For example, the 6 panel urine drug test will find traces of marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines, opiates, benzodiazepines, and amphetamines. The 12 panel test will find up to 12 different drugs in the urine sample.
A urine drug test can provide a “false positive.” In this case, the person is not actually using drugs, but something in their system caused the test to return as positive. If you run into this, you can then pay for him or her to go to a laboratory, which can provide a much more thorough testing.
